Providing Access to Safe Walking Paths

Michigan Road Trail

The reality of residential segregation in America has tragically created communities that are unequal, divided between those with access to quality infrastructure and those without.

Michigan Road, one of Indianapolis' busiest roads, averaging over 40,000 commuters per day runs through the heart of Crooked Creek.

While this provides close access to essentials, such as grocery stores, drug stores and access to bus stops, the lack of sidewalks is a dangerous endeavor when the disabled and pedestrians need to get to stores for everyday essentials.

Kerry led the effort to create the Michigan Road Trail, receiving the President's Volunteer Service Award for his efforts.

Kerry has served admirably as a trailblazer in this area, laying the foundational groundwork for future progress. It's essential that his leadership is kept alive and extended to ensure positive transformation can continue taking place.

Building Places To Create Memories For Generations

Kerry raised and leveraged over 1.2 million dollars for enlarging Crooked Creek Community/Juan Solomon Park by doubling its size and other park facility upgrades as Executive Director of the Crooked Creek Community Council.

Providing a Learning Place for All

Kerry led the effort and made the presentation for the creation of the Indianapolis Marion County Public Library's Michigan Road Library branch as Executive Director of the Crooked Creek Community Council.
